MLB All-Star Game 2016

It is high time once again for Major League Baseball sports team lovers to see the best of the best. July 12th is the MLB All-Star game.

MLB All-Star Game

The All-Star game, also dubbed “Midsummer Classic,” is played during the mid-season where a selection representing the National League faces off against a team from the American League. The starting players from both teams are selected by fan voting. The teams’ respective coaches are chosen based on the best records in their leagues.

MLB All-Star Game Early Voting Leaders

In the National League, it is no wonder that players from the Chicago Cubs are leading in the fan balloting for starting fielders. Anthony Rizzo, Ben Zobrist, Addisson Russell and Kris Bryant are all leading in their respective positions.

On the other side of the fence, the American League voting leaders are Mike Trout from the Los Angeles Angels, David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox and Manny Machado representing the Baltimore Orioles. There is also a special All-Star appearance expected from David Ortiz because he is set to retire right after the season.

In this year’s edition of the All-Star Game, as usual, players from both leagues are expected to enjoy the first innings of the game. But towards the end, professional baseball players usually get serious about the task at hand.
