Fundraising with a Cornhole Tournament

Organizing a cornhole game tournament is a great way to raise funds for a cause. The first step you need to take when organizing the tournament is to consider the number of players and the space available. It’s also important to determine the rules of the tournament in advance and discuss the rules with the players.

You can have a tournament that runs a single or double elimination, or a round robin tournament, based on the number of players that will be participating and the time allotment.

After deciding on the tournament type, you will need to print the tournament brackets or buy poster-size cornhole brackets. Set a day for pre-registration with a deadline to allow you sufficient time to plan the brackets.

Decide in advance how to form teams. Consider the following options:

  1. Have the players form teams and sign up as a group or allow them to choose their partners just prior to starting the tournament.
  2. Place the names of the players in a hat and draw two names together to form teams.

When establishing the brackets, you can place the names of the teams in a hat. The first team goes to the first blank line in the bracket, the next one to the second line, and so on.

Once the brackets are set, the tournament is ready to start. You can toss a coin to determine which team pitches first. Continue with the tournament until a winner emerges. Cornhole provides a great way to earn money for charity while engaging people in a day of fun and camaraderie.
